CIJOC-ICYCW rejoices on the occasion of the Consecration of Abba Lisane-Christos Matheos as auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Addis Ababa
The Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI appointed him as the Auxiliary Bishop of Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), with specific responsibility for the pastoral area of Bahir Dar. The Rev. Abba Lisane-Christos Matheos Semahun will be the Protosincello dell’Arciepaechia of Addis Ababa and titular Bishop of Matara in Numidia.
Rev. Abba Lisane-Christos Matheos Semahun the Ethiopian YCW founder and long serving YCW Chaplain was born on December 19, 1959 in Addis Ababa. He completed his studies in Philosophy and Theology at the Capuchin Franciscan Institute of Philosophy and theology study of Addis Ababa and was ordained Priest on the 8th of May, 1988. He received his Degree in Spirituality from the Pontifical University of Angelicum in RomeItaly, where he also attended courses in Sacred Music.
Abba Lesanu serves for many years as Chaplain for YCW Ethiopia and the pastoral office of the Youth. He was the current Secretary General of the Catholic Secretariat of Addis Ababa before his appointment by the Holy Father. He speaks English, Italian and Amharic- languages.
He will be consecrated Bishop in the 18th of April 2010
