The expansion of the YCW in many countries helped to bring back to the consciousness of the international dimension of the life of all young workers. The YCW is opening up to this dimension progressively.
Towards the end of the Council, impacted by turbulences, difficult moments came to the YCW, it entered into a deep crisis. The group leaders isolated the national Movements and envision the YCW as an undertaking for radical secularisation and an alternative to the Labour movement.
This endangered the continuity of the YCW, a precious reality for the working world and the Church. In order to alleviate this situation, in 1986, several national Movements of the YCW decided to form the CIJOC-ICYCW (International Coordination of Young Christian Workers).
